Dr. Alan Middleton Workplace Literacy and Learning Award

The Dr. Alan Middleton Workplace Literacy and Learning Award recognizes an individual or organization for their outstanding achievement in increasing workplace literacy and essential skills in their community.

The honour was established in 2010 to recognize the outstanding contribution of ABC Life Literacy Canada former board member and chair, Dr. Alan Middleton.

Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) – Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping manufacturers grow and become more competitive, at home and around the world. EMC’s flagship program is Manufacturing Essentials, including a Production Worker and Supervisor stream. Manufacturing Essentials is a module based, Essential Skills linked program that is designed to engage production workers in continuous improvement methods/projects to support increased results on productivity of their companies and better employee engagement.

Award Criteria:

Nominees can be individual employees or organizations, management, union representatives/members, government and literacy professionals involved in workplace literacy and essential skills. The honouree is selected by the staff and Board of ABC Life Literacy Canada as well as Dr. Alan Middleton.
