Children and their parents or/and caregivers take part in walking the Story Trail and discovering the Cree Calendar written by 20 "challenges" trhoughout the month of January and email photos of them overcoming the challenges with recognition and prizes to be awarded January 27.
Children and their parents and caregivers will walk the trail reading the wonderful book "When the Trees Crackle with Cold" a Cree Calendar by Bernice Johnson-Laxdal & Miriam K.o.rner. An activity Package and a book may be picked up at the Early Years Family Resource Centre once the trail is completed.
Between January 13-27, visit any Wheatland Regional Library or Saskatoon Public Library to pick up a postcard. Mail it in to READ Saskatoon or drop it off at your closest library location. The first 100 families to return the completed postcard will receive a copy of When the Trees Crackle with Cold: A Cree Calendar by Bernice Johnson-Laxdal.

Participants are encouraged to bundle up and 'walk and roll'' with their young families in their own neighbourhood, while identifying and talking about everything they see. The Lakeland Library Region’s North Battleford Library, in partnership with Lloydminster Learning Council Association will have a story spread throughout central park (weather depending, will be inside the library if not able to be outside). Stroll through the story and then enter your child’s name and your phone number for a prize raffle inside.
The Winter Family Story Stroll will begin on January 27th and will be available to participants until mid March. The bilingual story is titled "I love Winter / J'adore L'hiver by Shelley Admont.
The story will begin and end at the library. As you stroll along the path, you're directed to the next page in the story.
