Youth Reading to Youth
Chateauguay Valley Literacy Council in association with Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church presented the story THE THIRD GIFT as a PPT presentation on ZOOM concluding with a discussion about Myrrh and a sing-a-long of 'We Three Kings of Orient Are.' 28 children attended the event with accompanying adults for a total of 52 people. Fun was had by all!
Family Literacy Bingo
On-going Bingo game beginning Jan 4th and running until Jan 27th. Participate in the activities mentioned on the bingo card (found on our website and facebook page) over the course of the month and then send us a photo of your completed card and/or pictures of your family enjoying the activities to be entered into a draw for family prize!
READ Saskatoon Family Literacy Day Postcard
Between January 14-28, 2021, visit any Wheatland Regional or Saskatoon Public Library branch to pick up your family's postcard. The first 100 families to mail in the completed postcard to READ Saskatoon will receive a brand new book. Check out our website for more details.

Family Literacy Day Contest
We held a daily contest for a week of different literary trivia questions. We had 98 people participate. We also had a Family Popcorn Fun Pack - patrons could sign out two books, DVDs, etc and receive a Family Pack with DIY popcorn boxes and a package of popcorn (free).
Fox Walked Alone character rendition
I created google slides of Barbara Reid books and we voted as a class to view Fox Walks Alone and students were asked to be ready with playdough, plasticine, or clay (remotely learning) and we viewed Barbara speak of her techniques through videos.Watched a sun set one created and one with lightning she showed.Students were inspired and created fox

Family Literacy Event
A family fun event to kick off Family Literacy week. Families are invited to explore the Gateway Mall as they discover the pages of the book, Never Rub Noses with a Narwhal, written by Ruth Wellborn. The book ends at the Prince Albert Literacy office. Participating families will families will receive a FREE family fun kit and a copy of the book!
Travel the World by Book
Downtown Campbell River businesses have selected a country and will decorate their windows in that theme. Parents and children will find each country and submit a record to our Literacy Association. Each store will have a draw for a book for the country they have chosen. One of our many events.

Our school participates in Literacy Week with activities to engage our students and parents in the Love of Reading. Through participation students will be rewarded with prizes and satisfaction for completing activities planned throughout the week.

Model and Read Together FLD 2021
Withdraw a Barbara Reid book from the library for FLD 2021, and receive a package of modelling clay and base, for your creation. Families are encouraged to create an image from their book or to register, attend and create from the virtual event with Barbara Reid on the 27th, then send us a digital picture of their creation.

Virtual Family Literacy Day
This year due to COVID restrictions, we are bringing Family Literacy Day to our community! Families will register and on January 27, we will drop off via contactless drop off a book and craft supplies for children to create "book monsters".

Starting January 27, families can visit the Moose Jaw Early Years Family Resource Centre and take a walk through our Story Trail featuring the book "Never Rub Noses With a Narwhal" by Ruth Wellborn and Illustrated by Morgan Wellborn. Families can then pop into the Centre to receive a free copy of the book and a bag of activities!
Tweet Tweet! Performance at Ottawa Public Library
The library invites young families to join our Family Literacy Day Celebration with an online circus performance by Femmes du Feu entitled “Tweet Tweet”. TWEET TWEET! is the story of a magical tree and two young birds. The show will be available on the Ottawa Public Library Youtube channel here from January 27 – 31, 2021.
Literacy Day at REKSAP Centres for Early Learning
REKSAP will be celebrating Literacy Day this year by reading stories like "My Cat Likes to Hide In Boxes" by Eve Sutton, and "Gifts" by Jo Ellen Bogart & Barbara Reid. Each age group will be learning about different countries in their own unique way & expanding those teachable moments into all learning areas, like art, science and music!
Family Literacy Day StoryWalk®
We will be unveiling our newest StoryWalk(R) on January 27 to celebrate Family Literacy Day! We will feature Barbara Reid's book, Imagine un Arbre/Picture a Tree in both French and English. We will also be offering a limited number of free kits to make your own plasticine picture.
A Virtual Family Literacy Day at the Hospital
We will have an all day virtual event: authors reading books for children and specialists sharing information for families. Hospitalized children will be able to access these events through their in- room Tv and others through the hospital YouTube channel. Books will be given out to all th hospitalized children by the Child Life Specialists.
Let’s Celebrate Family Literacy Day

Reading on the Radio
Students will read stories and poems in Inuktitut and English at the local radio station. Anyone with a radio (Elders, families at home, drivers, office workers, etc.) will be able to listen to the children read. There is potential for this to become an ongoing activity in Igloolik.
