Activate Learning fall workshop series

Throughout November and December, we’re hosting a virtual workshop series as part of our Activate Learning program. Each workshop will focus on one of the various topics available through the program, so you can get a sneak peek at what each workshop will entail. Learn about financial literacy, health literacy, or the Skills for Success.

Registering once will give you access to all of the workshops, and you can choose to attend one or as many as you like.

Monday November 1 – Time Management

In this workshop, we’ll look at skills that help with time management. We’ll also talk about common time-wasting habits we fall into, and how to overcome them.

Friday November 5 – Accountability

In this workshop, we’ll explore what accountability means to us and why it’s important. We’ll talk about how to handle the challenges to being accountable when we’re at work and learn strategies for improving our accountability.

Monday November 8 – Writing

In this workshop, we’ll talk about why writing is important in our lives. You’ll explore the writing skills you have, and how to be a better writer.

Friday November 12 – Adaptability

In this workshop, we’ll explore how we respond to change and learn strategies for coping better with it. We’ll also look at why adaptability at work is important, and talk about what to do if you are asked to make changes that go against your core values.

Monday November 15 – Ways to save

In this workshop, we’ll explore different ways to save for the future and learn about interest and how it grows. We’ll talk about saving for your child’s education using a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), and saving money using a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA).

Friday November 19 – Smart Shopping

In this workshop, we’ll talk all about shopping! Topics include why we shop, how to think about our shopping habits, how to save money with comparison shopping, and ways to make smart buying decisions.

Monday November 22 – Presentation

In this workshop, we’ll explore how to present ourselves in a way that fits the needs of our job. We’ll look at the different things that make up our presentation, and talk about some challenges you might have with presentation and how to work through them.

Friday November 26 – Collaboration

In this workshop, we’ll explore why collaboration is important and how to be a good team player. We will look at how to handle conflict with your coworkers, and talk about how you can improve your collaboration skills.

Monday November 29 – Take charge of your health

In this workshop, we’ll explore how to talk about your health with your family and with your health care providers.

Friday December 3 – Stress Management

In this workshop, we’ll explore what stress is and what it feels like. We’ll also talk about ways to reduce and recover from it. You’ll have a chance to figure out some sources of stress in your life, and make a plan to deal with at least one of them.

Monday December 6 – Attitude

In this workshop, we’ll explore what attitude means to us, and why it’s important. We’ll learn how we show our attitude through our actions, tone and body language. We’ll also talk about how to work through all the challenges to having a good attitude when we’re at work.

Friday December 10 – Motivation

In this workshop, we’ll explore what motivation means to us, and why it’s important. We’ll learn how to get motivated by connecting our values to our goals, and talk about strategies for staying motivated when things get hard.

Monday December 13 – Communication

In this workshop, you’ll think about your communication skills. You’ll think about your strengths and areas to work on, and learn how to be a better communicator with everyone you meet.

Friday December 17 – Problem Solving

In this workshop, we will talk about how and why we problem solve. We’ll explore what problem-solving skills are, and how to use them to identify what causes the problems you face and what you can do about them.
