We eagerly anticipate your presence on January 10, 2025, at the Young at Heart Seniors' Centre, located at 39 Copeland St, Burk’s Falls, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Learn how you and your family can make mealtime family learning time with tips, stories, and activities—just in time for Family Literacy Day on January 27! Suitable for ages 3–12.

Family Literacy Day filled with imagination and fun.
From 9:30–12:00, little learners ages 0–6 and their families can jump into age-friendly,
hands-on activities that spark creativity, build early literacy skills, and make learning together feel like an exciting adventure.

Join the Regina Early Years Family Resource Centre - Airport location, along with the United Way Regina Family Literacy Hub, as we celebrate Family Literacy Day! We will enjoy stories about food and family, then create special take-home placemats to spark meaningful mealtime conversations and learning at home.

Author and illustrator Barbara Reid will be doing an online demonstration on how to use modelling clay to create a picture. This event is ideal for families with children in grades 1-6. Fun activities for families with children birth to 6 years
Join in the fun art activities, movement games, singing and stories celebrating Family Literacy Day!

A fun, hands-on workshop where families come together to build a story using creative stations and turn it into their very own handmade book to take home.

Families will get together to prepare a healthy lunch, share recipes and ideas for family meals and snacks. All ingredients will be provided. Each child will receive an apron and chef hat to decorate as well as a new book. There will be a story time.

Stop by Sarnia Library and the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery for fun activities for the entire family: Face painting, video gaming, physical activities, art activities and crafts, a play, and more! Learn about literacy supports in your community and how participating in everyday activities together can improve the who family's literacy.

Scour the village of Eganville, ON for a letter of the alphabet in celebration of Family Literacy Day! Hunt starts at 10 AM and goes til 2 PM. Find a letter, bring it in to BUPL (on Saturday January 24th ONLY) for a prize and hot cocoa! One letter/child please.

Family Mealtime Learning Adventure
Engage in hands-on activities that support literacy and learning skills, such as following recipes, creating shopping lists, and sharing stories at the dinner table. Discover how these simple experiences strengthen family bonds and encourage a lifelong love of learning.

Join us for a special Family Literacy Day storytime led by award winning children's author Lana Button. Lana will share her book "One Can", a touching story of a child who learns to give and receive -- and wants only to give again in return" (publisher).

It is Family Literacy Day! This year’s Family Literacy Day is all about coming together in the kitchen to “Make Family Mealtime Learning Time.” Join us for a special story time with stories, songs, a snack, and a craft!

Family Literacy Day: Create Your Own Story Station
January 27, 2026 | 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Celebrate Family Literacy Day with a fun, all-day, drop-in activity for all ages! Families are invited to visit the Create Your Own Story Station, where you can use word prompts, picture cards, and blank booklets or comic templates to write your story.

Join us for a special Family Literacy Day event featuring Honorary Chair Barbara Reid! Families with children ages 4-8 are invited to attend this recorded, viewing of an online demonstration where author and illustrator Barbara Reid begins with a story and then shares her unique techniques for creating pictures using modelling clay.

The Regina Early Years Family Resource Centre, along with the United Way Regina Family Literacy Hub, is hosting a special family cooking night where we will turn budget-friendly ingredients into a meal families can make again and again. CPF Ontario invites you to a special virtual bilingual event with cookbook author and French language teacher Mardi Michels. In celebration of this year’s theme, “Make Mealtime, Family Learning Time,” Join Mardi for a family-friendly discussion and hands-on cooking class, guiding participants step-by-step through a classic Ratatouille Tian recipe.

Families are invited to eat lunch with their child in their classrooms. They are to bring a copy of their favorite recipe which will be included in our school cookbook. They are also invited to bring a sample of a traditional recipe to share with the class and a memory or story behind the recipe.

Join the Eastern Québec Literacy Council for a fun day of exploring many different types of literacy: reading, writing, science, health, environmental, cultural, and much more! We will have 8-10 partners join us to offer a number of tables, each with a fun, family-oriented activity that will engage and challenge people of all ages.
