Family Literacy Day®
Celebrated annually on January 27 and created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to encourage families to read and learn together. Thousands of Canadians take part in Family Literacy Day events and activities at schools, libraries and literacy organizations. Sponsorship opportunities available at a variety of levels.

Munsch at Home Winners

Munsch at Home Contest
As part of Family Literacy Day, ABC Life Literacy Canada offers families a chance to win a home visit from best-selling children's author and Honorary Chair of Family Literacy Day, Robert Munsch. To enter the contest, families are asked to write a short story together and submit it online. Entries are judged by Robert Munsch himself and the winning story will be illustrated by Munsch's illustrator, Michael Martchenko. Exclusive sponsorship of this contest is available.

Money Matters
Money Matters will increase the numeracy and financial literacy skills among adult learners across Canada. We are currently seeking sponsors to help us develop this life-changing program that engages your employees to deliver lessons ranging from basic banking to understanding a credit card and long term investments.

Letters for Literacy
An exclusive fundraiser that helps raise funds for literacy and acknowledges the heroes who stand behind the cause. Letters of the alphabet are purchased for $5,770 each to help achieve the goal of raising $150,000. ABC Life Literacy Media Sale
An online sale of media at 65% off rate card value, donated by leading magazines, newspapers, websites and outdoor media from across the country. All funds raised go towards ABC Life Literacy’s work to inspire Canadians to increase their literacy skills and extend our reach to more communities across Canada, encouraging those with reading, writing and math challenges to seek help. Barenaked Ladies

Ben & Jerry’s ‘If I had 1,000,000 flavours’: Barenaked Ladies donated their share of royalties from the sale of ‘If I had 1,000,000 flavours;’ to support ABC Life Literacy Canada.

General Mills’ Read the Box: A partnership with General Mills and Canadian publishers featured stories about Canadian athletes by Canadian authors on General Mills cereal boxes.

enRoute presents From A to Z: Twenty-six artists from across Europe and North America created art around a different letter of alphabet for a silent auction event hosted by enRoute and attended by magazine’s top corporate clients.

Canada Post Lick the Stamp and Stick with Literacy: Over 5 million specially created literacy stamps helped raise over $250,000 for literacy field and was supported by over $3 million in donated print and broadcast media.

Starbucks’ Gift of Words™: Corporate giveback program provided funding to literacy groups, schools and libraries for development of reading circles or book collections - over 40,000 new books and hundreds of reading circles accessible to almost 750,000 children.
