TORONTO, ON – January 23, 2009 – On Family Literacy Day (FLD), Tuesday January 27th, join ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation, FLD Founding Sponsor Honda Canada, and officials from The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids®) for a special Family Literacy Day reading to patients and their families. Capture the joy as children and their parents hear stories told by legendary children's author Robert Munsch. As the honourary chair of FLD, Munsch will share a few of his bestselling stories as only Munsch can. He will also encourage families in attendance to engage in literacy activities at home to promote the benefit of family learning for both adult and child.
This year marks the 11th year of Family Literacy Day, an annual initiative held every January 27th and created by ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation and founding sponsor Honda Canada. Celebrated nationally, Family Literacy Day promotes families reading and learning together on a daily basis. This storytelling event is one of hundreds of events taking place across the country at schools, libraries, homes and literacy organizations, all in honour of Family Literacy Day.
