PGI Moncton Promises Great Fun

The 2009 PGI Moncton promises to be another success with Literacy New Brunswick's commitment to providing excellent event experiences for their participants. On Wednesday August 19th, they will host the community, sponsors, and the general public with three events. The fifth consecutive Family Festival for Literacy will kick things off with hair braiding, face painting, literacy contest winners, poet laureate Sheree Fitch, and singing and dancing performances by New Brunswick youth groups.

Later in the evening, the VIP Sponsor Reception will take place on stage at the Capitol Theatre, featuring food and beverages supplied by the Delta Beauséjour. This one-hour reception allows sponsors the opportunity to get together and discuss literacy initiatives as well as the pending round of golf the next day. After the reception, the general public will join sponsors for an evening of comedy, dance and a celebration of Peter Gzowski and literacy at Eveningside – In the Tradition of Peter Gzowski that includes the recognition of the Goguen Champlain Insurance Learner award winners.

The next morning's golf day kicks off with breakfast and a literacy presentation by one of New Brunswick’s literacy learners. This is followed by the “skydiver” start and 180 golfers teeing it up for literacy at Royal Oaks Golf Course. The 19th hole will feature Mussels, Molson, Models and Mercedes this year – a great way to lead into the banquet of steak and lobster NB style! The event will conclude with the fabulous Sheree Fitch delivering the poem of the day.
