(Toronto, ON - September 26, 2011) - The 10th annual Postmedia Raise-a-Reader Day fundraising initiative will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. This award-winning campaign is designed to increase awareness and raise money to support family literacy organizations across Canada.
Volunteers from across the country will trade special edition Postmedia and partnering Raise-a-Reader newspapers on Wednesday in exchange for donations to Raise-a-Reader. The National Post will donate 100 per cent of the funds raised by the campaign to various GTA-based literacy organizations, including ABC Life Literacy Canada.
Raise-a-Reader has raised more than $17 million dollars since it first started in 2002. The idea has grown into a year-round program with important fundraising events that culminate in Raise-a-Reader Day. If you are passionate about the literacy cause, and understand its importance to the growth and development of people and communities in Canada, come out to support the event and help us raise many more readers!
