The government has given us a couple of great ways to save for the future. Using RRSPs and/or TFSAs can help you save money and save on taxes.
Pilot testing brought together 41 adult learners with 22 volunteer-tutors from TD Bank Group and 6 literacy practitioners to work through the four-module program prior to its national release in September. Thus far feedback has been positive as organizations and adults look forward to the program’s official launch in fall 2011.
“I liked that all my questions were answered,” commented one student while a volunteer-tutor indicated that the experiences was “very enjoyable – students very receptive!”
Through participation in the program, adults will be able to increase their numeracy and financial literacy skills leading to increased confidence in dealing with their personal finances and making appropriate financial decisions. They will also gain an understanding of programs and incentives available to help their children pursue a post-secondary education such as the Canada Education Savings Grant, the Canada Learning Bond and RESPs.
Thank you to program supporters the Government of Canada, TD Bank Group and Project Read for helping bring this project to life and positively making a difference in the lives of adult learners.
