Tournament Date: September 17, 2010
In Saskatchewan, the PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy is a wonderful event that brings golf and literacy together, adding a good mix of laughter and great times. The READ Saskatoon PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy isn’t just about playing golf and raising funds for literacy; it provides an opportunity to increase the awareness of the importance of literacy for individuals and families in our community.
The kick-off to our event will be the READ ‘n’ Feed Celebrity Auction for Literacy on the evening of May 6, 2010 at the Western Development Museum. Local celebrities give their time and talents to make up wonderful, and sometimes quirky packages to auction to the guests. The evening includes both a live and silent auction, tapas, and is hosted by local radio personality and auctioneer Brent Loucks. READ ‘n’ Feed provides golfers with an opportunity to register and hold their spot for the PGI Golf Day.
On September 17, 2010 the READ Saskatoon PGI begins with a shot-gun start at The Willow’s Golf and Country Club at 10:00 am. This year singer/songwriter Connie Kaldor will be joining us. Following a day of golfing and good times on the course, an early dinner is served. Golfers are treated to a short program highlighted by the Learner Achievement Award, recognizing an adult learner for their commitment to improve their literacy skills, and the Gzowski Award for the golfer who gets what the day is really about. The Poet Laureate closes the day with the last word.
