LEARN Program Relaunches

ABC Life Literacy Canada is pleased to officially announce the creation of a new digital platform for the highly successful LEARN Program.

LookUnderLearn.ca is a national online database of community literacy programs that allows individuals to connect with resource centers ready, willing and able to help them meet their improvement goals. This online resource is the only one of its kind in Canada as it provides contact information for literacy groups in specific towns, cities and provinces across Canada with one simple click.

Since 1994, LEARN has been a highly successful awareness program connecting tens of thousands of adults to literacy programming in their community. In a survey of adult learners, 95% of individuals involved in literacy programs as learners indicated that they successfully sought and found opportunities as a direct result of the LEARN campaign.

To help disseminate the message, a new awareness campaign including print and online PSAs, along with refreshed television PSAs (January 2011) are also hitting the marketplace this fall.

Individuals interested in improving their reading, writing and math skills look in the Yellow Pages directories under the heading LEARN or APPRENDRE to find organizations in their communities that they could contact for information and assistance.

A great deal of thanks goes out to Yellow Pages Group and DirectWest Publishers for their continued support of the LEARN program and helping us reach adult learners across Canada. With this new digital platform we are confident that more and more Canadians can be helped.
