It's Media Literacy Week!

November 1 - 5 is Media Literacy Week, an initiative conceived in 2006 to promote media literacy as a key component in the education of young people and to encourage the integration and the practice of media education in Canadian homes, schools and communities. The theme for Media Literacy Week 2010, Gender and Media, encourages adults to explore with young people the issues related to gender representation – body image, stereotyping, sexualisation, roles and relationships – as well as how media can be used to provide more realistic and empowering role models for youth.
