Innovative fundraising campaign adds three new supporters

ABC Life Literacy Canada has once again launched the innovative Letters for Literacy campaign that seeks to raise $150,000 for literacy programming in Canada. The program allows companies to purchase one of the 26 letters of the alphabet; most often the one associated with their name.

On February 18, 2011, ABC Life Literacy Canada was pleased to announce - via this story - that ten letters had been purchased through the Letters for Literacy campaign. As of March 11, 2011, two more letters have been purchased with Ferrero Canada Ltd. purchasing N for Nutella and De Beers Canada returning to purchase D. Ernst & Young LLP, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Promontory Financial Group Canada ULC have unanimously thrown their support behind literacy programming in Canada by joining ABC Life Literacy Canada through this campaign. In the case of Homewood Suites by Hilton, despite not being able to ‘own’ H for Homewood Suites by Hilton, the company maintained their eagerness to participate in the program and quickly snapped up “F” for Family Travel and in testament to their family-centered brand.

“Homewood Suites by Hilton has always cared about the literacy cause. From our involvement in organization such as Books for Kids and the Shelby County Race for Education, to having our own Lewis the Duck children’s books series which includes the title Lewis the Duck Goes to Canada, the partnership with the Letters for Literacy program was a natural fit for our brand,” commented Bill Duncan, Global Head, Homewood Suites by Hilton. “Homewood purchased the letter “F” for family travel, as we believe that literacy starts in the home with parent and child.”

ABC Life Literacy Canada is pleased to welcome back De Beers Canada as a Letters for Literacy donor effective March 7, 2011. We say Thank You for being a literacy hero.
