Literacy statistics
Literacy opens doors to many opportunities, but unfortunately millions of Canadians struggle with literacy challenges. Almost half of all Canadian adults have low literacy skills – about 9 million adult Canadians fall below high-school proficiency levels.

An article by the Vancouver Times Colonist reported that low literacy skills are a major cause of poverty in Canada as 22 per cent of Canadians have difficulty reading. Improving literacy levels in any country is key to improving its economy. You can help improve literacy levels in Canada.
