Financial Literacy Week logo inspires discussion around money management

(Toronto, ON – July 14, 2011)- ABC Life Literacy Canada is pleased to unveil the official logo for Financial Literacy Week, taking place from October 30 to November 5, 2011 as the kick-off campaign to Financial Literacy Month.

Created in conjunction with design firm Brandworks International Inc, the logo is a graphic statement illustrating the need for open dialogue by Canadians about money, math and financial literacy.

With national survey results published by Ipsos Reid and ABC Life Literacy Canada in May 2011 showing that more than half of Canadians admit needing help with their financial management skills, Financial Literacy Week provides opportunities for discussion and knowledge building in numeracy and financial literacy.

As noted by Brandworks, “the new Financial Literacy Week logo is simple, bold and impactful.  It is designed to communicate the idea of  ‘talking about money’ in a way that is approachable and accessible to everybody."

In the coming weeks, ABC will unveil a Financial Literacy Week website complete with tools, resources and information on how Canadians can increase their financial literacy and math skills.

“Small steps add up to big changes,” commented Margaret Eaton, ABC Life Literacy Canada President. “Through Financial Literacy Week Canadians will have the chance to engage in learning activities that will better their understanding of basic math and money managements skills while making a personal promise to learn something new that can help them.”

Brandworks International Inc. is also working on an advertising campaign that will further extend the message of open dialogue among Canadians and introduce the idea of taking a small step towards increasing personal financial literacy skills and knowledge.
