PGI Learner Achievement Tribute Award

The PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy BC will celebrate its 20th annual golf tournament on Tuesday July 13th, 2010 at the University Golf Course in Vancouver. More than 140 golfers, sponsors and supporters will join tournament host Senator Larry Campbell, to sing, swing and laugh the day away while raising much needed funds for Literacy in BC. Funds raised at this year’s tournament will be used to help learners around the province who need emergency funding to continue their learning journey. Funds will be distributed to literacy organizations through the Paul Gallagher Community Access Fund.

One of the day’s highlights is the PGI Learner Achievement Tribute, an award given to one exceptional adult learner from BC. This year’s winner will be honoured at the tournament and will receive a monetary prize plus a $250.00 learner library from Greystone Books. The winner’s school will also receive $250.00 toward their learning library. Two runners up will also be acknowledged.

In the spirit of Peter Gzowski, the Vancouver PGI is full of fun, music, poetry, delicious food, fabulous prizes and surprises! The day ends with a banquet celebrating our golfers, sponsors and supporters. Come and join us.

Life Literacy Month Tip

Boost baby’s brainpower by reading aloud. Infants love the sound of a parent’s voice and the closeness of sharing.
