The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is a celebration of her accession to the throne in 1952. On February 6, 2012 Queen Elizabeth II became the second UK monarch to mark 60 years on the throne. To commemorate this event, medals were created in celebration for her service to Canada and also served to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
ABC Life Literacy Canada is one of several non-profit organizations chosen to select Diamond Jubilee Medal recipients to recognize outstanding contributions made to improve literacy and skill levels of adult Canadians, and who have helped raise awareness of the adult literacy cause.
Following final consideration by the Government of Canada, ABC Life Literacy Canada will announce selected recipients in early 2013.
