Literacy benefits the entire family. All it takes is spending 15 minutes a day reading, writing, singing, playing a game or following a recipe together. This year, Canadians from coast-to-coast will Play for Literacy in celebration of Family Literacy Day®, January 27, 2011. Play for Literacy includes all types of play that encourages literacy and numeracy development as well as comprehension skills, such as board games, card games and imaginative self-created activities and games.
